Blackheath

7 Jul 2013 - Gavan Burden

We are pleased to report the Academy’s first win and the first home win of our cricket week, a fantastic performance from all of our new players in the field scoring runs and with ball, (just a little help from Thomo Koster and Gibbo)

We welcomed Blackheath to the Vine on a very hot Sunday, and with the benefit of having Brian Richardson umpire for us we won the toss and duly selected to bat. James White and Callum Watson opened up for us and immediately started scoring quickly and from that moment onward we never took our foot off the gas, especially pleasing was James White 52, Guy Bevan Thomas 44, Asif 46.

We were aware though that the Vineyard road had a lot of runs in it and we were only half way there. However our young GUN bowlers didn’t waiver and we were soon making inroads into Blackheath with David Leach 2 wickets and our Robinson Twins both taking a wicket each and all with some good catching in the field.

Many thanks go out to the parents who came to support and especially our umpire Brian Richardson.
