Keith Miller RIP

12 Apr 2018 - Tom Parsons

We are deeply saddened to advise that Keith Miller died on Saturday 7th April after a long period of illness, bravely borne. Keith was a longstanding member of the Sevenoaks Vine Cricket Club, having played mainly for the 2nd XI, including one year as Vice-Captain, and for the then ‘A’ XI in the 1960s and 1970s, as a fine wicket keeper/batsman.  He was also a member of the SVCC Committee, serving as Team Secretary and as Secretary for a number of years.  Keith loved the game of cricket and remained a keen and loyal supporter of the Club after his playing days were over, becoming a regular attendee at matches on the Vine.

Keith was also a member of the Sevenoaks Hockey Club, for which he scored 298 goals, and for many years served as a Committee member and Trustee of the Vine Club. In addition, he was a stalwart of Knockers Cricket Club, both as a player and an officer, having been Secretary for many years and, ultimately, President, a post he still held at the time of his death.

Above all, Keith was a dear friend who will be very sorely missed. Our thoughts and deepest sympathy are with Lorainne and the rest of his family at this sad time. We will advise details of the funeral arrangements in due course.”

Further to our earlier announcement we can advise that following a private family cremation on Thursday 3rd May there will be a Celebration of Keith’s life at St. George’s Church in Weald village at 2.30 that afternoon.  This is to be followed by a ‘cricket tea’ (although the bar will definitely be open!) at the Vine Pavilion from approximately 4.00.
