Vine 2nds win final day thriller!

5 Sep 2017 - Tom Parsons

SVCC 2ndXI entertained Dartford in the last of the season. The vine elected to bat first on a good looking pitch.

The Vine got off to a good start punishing some bad deliveries, but a Vine collapse and some great swing bowling punished any poor shots. The vine struggling for runs had Carslaw and H Robinson put a valuable partnership together and took the Vine away from an embarrassing score. The vines top order not troubling the scorers and luckily and strong partnership at the end saw the Vine post 106.

The Vine started the defence of the small total brilliantly with Johnson removing 3 of the top 4 Dartford batsman and Carslaw taking an early wicket the score of 106 was looking to be a tough challenge.

A partnership in the middle order for Dartford saw the momentum from the SVCC team slowly fade away and with Dartford needing 4 runs to win with 4 wickets remaining the Vine chances were slim but Johnson took 2 wickets in 3 balls to expose the tail of the Dartford side and Reid Dick finished the game in a nail biting finish giving the Vine the win.Screen Shot 2017-09-05 at 20.24.05
