A belated report on the Old Oaks game against Sevenoaks Prep from 7th June, the Old Oaks had a slightly makeshift side due to a few absentees facing a strong Prep side chasing their first ever win on the Vine. We negotiated for them to bat first, Harvey (22) got them off to a good start before being dismissed by Churchman (2-20). Their batting lineup was very strong, and they raced to 100 off hte first 10 overs, with both Thompson and ex-pro House retiring after scoring swiftly. The Old Oaks rallied, Taylor bowled very well for 1-18 off 3, and even the skipper got a couple of wickets, 2-28 off 4. They finished with a total of 171 off 7 from their 20.
The Old Oaks reply was led by centurion Gavin Tovey, who got 21, but there was a lot of pressure on Nigel Taylor to get the runs and when he was stumped for 3, it was always going to be a tall order. Burden wasa the pick of the batsmen, particularly after recruiting a runner (Taylor ) to do the hard yards he batted very well for his 28. He lacked support though and we got to 138-8 off our 20.
