2 May 2014 - Charlie Compton
The Old Oaks season started promisingly with a convincing victory over The Judd in front of a capacity crowd at the Vine. We batted first. In spite of freezing conditions, we got off to a decent start with Sykes making a maximum 30, although in the course of it he blotted his copy book by running out his partner BT for 3. Debutant Lowndes batted well, as did Macca, and we reached 111 for 2 off our 12 overs. Should have been a few more but myself and Hugo Tudor struggled to get the ball off the square in the final over.
We had a strong bowling attack led by Dan Tiley (0-10) who bowled very well, reminiscent of Bonze in his pomp. The old Bonze (1-3 off 1) also showed he has still got it and after 5 overs they were well behind. Tudor (3 for 8 off 2) mopped up the tail and they finished 77 – 6.
