16 Jun 2013 - Tonya Williams

Vine entertained Withyam desperate to get back to winning ways after losing narrowly to Flimwell both home and away. Withyam were put in on a damp pitch and blustery overhead conditions. Thresher L and Vorster opened well with Thresher bouncing out opener Bruce with the score on 20. Boarman came to the crease and bashed a quick 22 before being brilliantly caught at short mid wicket by Thresher off the bowling of Bevan-Thomas. Pettman continued to accumulate for Withyam but when he was removed by George Thresher for 32 Withyam struggled to accelerate. Wickets fell with regularity as Bevan-Thomas, Bryant, and Reid-Dick all found good rhythm. The Withyam total nudged up to a competitive 128 for 8 off the 22 overs.

In reply Bevan-Thomas and Bryant got off to an excellent start with 50 coming up in the 7th over. Vine then proceeded to have a wobble as Bevan-Thomas and Bryant cashed in their chips .Cyrus White came to the crease and was immediately involved in a mix up which left the unfortunate Tom James run out without facing. This meant 3 wickets had fallen for just 3 runs. Lawrence Thresher then joined White and they set about steadying the ship. They did this and more as the scoreboard began to tick over again and a fine 50 partnership saw them close the game out with both left unbeaten on 28 and 29 not out. With 2 overs to spare victory was achieved but Withyam had made Vine fight all the way through.
